Homebrew Arachnae Species Details

Arachnae are a race of humanoids that have chosen to secluded themselves from society for their appearance and the sins of their ancestors. Creatures of great artistic ability and craftsmanship as well as nimble and precise. Arachnae are commonly hired as architects and artists just as well as assassins and guards. The brush or the blade, Arachnae can use either to suit their craft.

Backstory of the Spider

Ara Sephra, a talented weaver and artisan, got the attention of a celestial being called Remites. Remites was infatuated with Ara and made it his goal to marry the woman. The only problem was that Remites was already married to another Celestial named Demesemster who didn't take kindly to Ara taking her husband away and plotted to take revenge on the woman. On one fateful evening as Ara was preparing to give birth to a the child of Remites, but just before the baby would be born, Demesemster cursed the child and the woman, creating the first Arachnae. Demesemster cursed Ara and her children and their children to only spawn Arachnae children. Remites was horrified of the child and cast away both Ara and the child the the wilds where they created the Arachnae race.

Age

Arachnae mature to adulthood at the same rate as humans and live upwards to a century.

Alignment

Arachnae are often aligned in neutral tendacies, with most either staying in the neutral tendency, but usually if an Arachnae shifts alignment, they tend to go to extremes. This is a side effect of the curse, making sure that the Arachnae are not quite human, but also not quite monsters either.

Darkvision

An Arachnae can see well over 60 ft in darkness due to their spider eyes bring adjusted to the dark and changes in light. Since they are adapted for nocturnal activity as well as day activities, their eyes allow thme to see in the dark.

Ara Sempra's Curse

Due to the curse placed upon the Arachnae people, you are not just a Humanoid or a Monstrosity, you count as both creature types.

You can speak, read, and write Common and Primordial.

Resistance to Poison

Due to the venom coursing through your veins, you are resistant to all poisons.

Venomous Bite

Due to the venom in your veins, an Arachnae can inject poison into another being close to them through a noxious bite. Allowing them to perform one powerful venomous bite per short rest, dealing 1d8 piercing damage at first level and poisoning the target on a failed CON save (against 8 + CON mod + PROF bonus). They will also take 2d4 poison damage next turn on a failed save.
