Homebrew Chimaera Species Details

"I was lost, wandering in the woods, when I came upon these wonderful beasts, seemingly made of many different kinds of animals. They call themselves the chimaera. They are clearly an advanced species, capable of carving homes from stone. They are truly, truly, the most powerful species ever created."

Chimaera were created when the wild magic of a god's death merged a human and animals next to them to become one of these things. Most races look upon them with fear, but some, like dragonborns, respect them. These creatures usually live in groups, like a village. An adventuring one could be a kid, wanting to explore, an adult, wanting to observe, or an exiled, cast out from their home.

Animal Ancestors

As a chimaera, you look strange because of all the animal parts that made you, like wings and gills and talons and claws and fur and feathers. Chimaera are usually over 6 feet tall and weigh about 185 pounds. Their heads are birdlike, their torsos are humanlike, their legs are lizardlike, and they have a tail.

Homelands

Chimaera live in those few parts of Elemental Chaos that are most stable, resembling places of the Material Plane. Sometimes the places overlap, and a human in a cave could walk into a chimaera tribe's home.
