Homebrew Conduit Species Details

Many know of the Warforged, a race of sentient automatons that were used for endless combat. Well, as is the nature of magic, many sought to improve what was previously considered a flawless design. Pushing ever towards "true sentience." Conduits need to sleep and must eat to fuel their elemental reactors. They are, after all made of a special alloy known as black iron, which is then suffused with elemental energy. Conduits come in all shapes and sizes, and bear the heads of various animals and beasts, but always the bodies of human beings.

It is not known exactly what happened to many of their masters, but conduits are quite often seen on their lonesome, forgotten machines of a bygone era. It is no matter, though as they can still make their mark on the world with their combat prowess and striking visuals.

Conduit Traits

As a Conduit, your body grants you the following traits.

Age.

Conduits were created long ago, and therefore their physical age is estimated to be many centuries old. It doesn't matter, though, as they are immortal in terms of biological aging. You are immune to magical aging effects as well.

Alignment

Conduits tend toward the alignment of their creator, though they will often lean towards neutrality.

Size

Conduits are roughly the size of an average human though their height and weight can vary greatly depending on their creator's preferences. Your size is medium. To set your height and weight randomly, start with rolling a size modifier.

Size modifier = 2d12

Height = 5 feet + your size modifier

Weight in pounds = 60 + (10 x your size modifier)

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Conduit Core

Choose an element from acid, cold, fire, or Lightning. You bear a core comprised of that element, which exist at the center of your body. You gain features that change depending on the core you bear.

Emit Element

As an action you can emit your core's element in a 10-foot radius from youself. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 damage of your core's type. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage.

The damage of this ability increases by 3d6 at 5th level, 4d6 at 11th, and 5d6 at 17th level. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you must finish a long rest before doing so again.
