Homebrew Canus Species Details

The Canus are a result of ancestors with lycanthropy giving birth to children with regular humans. Since lycanthropes are considered monsters, their children were considered freaks of nature, a mixture of monster and human that shouldn't exist. That is until one was allowed to grow up. This singular creature was docile and friendly, had little intelligence and seemed like a domestic wolf. That is when they became simple pets. However, once they started to become more and more human-like, it has become a question of if they can be given human rights.

Your sense of hearing and smell are better than most humanoids. You are proficient in the Perception skill.

Your creature type is both beast and humanoid. You are proficient in the Animal Handling skill and instead of making a Charisma (Deception) or Charisma (Persuasion) check creatures can instead make a Wisdom (Animal Handling), however, if someone does this, it is completely obvious to other creatures

Your claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
