Homebrew Cora’guil Species Details

A bulky aquatic race, widely known for their symbiotic relationship with the coral growing on their hide. The coral provides them armor, expression, and decoration, and the host acts as a place to root, mutually benefiting both. They are known for being a passive race, and they’d much rather spend time tending to their corals than fighting or crafting, much like a garden. Their ears are fitted with small sensors, being able to detect minute pressure changes in the water surrounding them. Due to the sheer density of their coral, the size of which can be used to determine age, they are unable to swim, instead sinking to the bottom of the water and walking along the bottom. Their corals not only act as a coating of armor, but also as decoration, with members of the Cora’guil planting certain species of coral polyps onto their hide to grow specific shapes and colors, in place of hair and body decor. Their coral, however, does have its drawbacks. They’re slower than other races as a result of their unwieldy body, and they cannot wear more fragile varieties of armor.
