Homebrew Arboreal Rhinokin Species Details
Half-trolls are the result of genetic mingling between other races of humanoids, usually humans, and the race of mutant giants called trolls. Like their troll parents, they have tremendous appetites and powerful metabolic abilities. However, despite still having a passionate and mercurial temperament, the average half-troll is markedly less chaotic and wild than a full-blooded troll.
Arboreal Rhinokin Traits
Tough, fierce, and hungry, half-trolls combine the best traits of both their parents' biology.Ability Score Changes
Your STR score increases by 4, and your CON score increases by 2. But your INT and CHA scores decrease by 2.
Age
Half-trolls age more quickly than humans, reaching physical maturity at around 12 years old. Though their powerful metabolism grants them good health and staves off the physical decline of old age, it also reduces their overall lifespan, and they usually don't live as long as their human counterparts do, at 60 years old.
Alignment
Though their drives are weaker than those of their troll parents, half-trolls are still very passionate and individualistic. Most are chaotic, while almost none are lawful. Many half-trolls engage in destructive behavior, but many more have enough self-control to simply come off as uncouth.
Size
When standing fully upright, half-trolls measure upwards of 9 to 18 feet tall. Your size is Large.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Senses
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Blindsight, 30ft. Using senses such as acute hearing and sensitivity to vibrations, you detect the location of opponents who are no more than 30 feet away from you. Invisibility and darkness are irrelevant, though it cannot discern incorporeal beings.
Beserking
As a free action on your turn, you can launch into a frenzy for 2 rounds. During your frenzy, you can use your bonus action to make an additional attack or cast a cantrip with a casting time of one action. After using this ability, you can't use it again until you complete a long rest.
Tough Body
Rhino skin is tough and hard. Your unarmored AC is equal to 11 + Constitution modifier. You may use a shield and still gain this benefit.
Natural Weapons
You have a Bite attack that deals 1d8 piercing damage, 1d8 poison damage and a claw attack that deals 2d8 slashing damage.
Regeneration
You regain Hit Points at a rate of 4 + Level at the start of each of your turns. This does not function if you suffered fire or acid damage since your last turn. You die if you are at 0 HP at the start of your turn and not regenerating.
Iron Gut
You have advantage on Constitution saving throws against diseases, ingested substances such as raw meat or poison, and effects that rely on breathing or inhalation such as poison gas or the stinking cloud spell.
Horn
Your pointed horn is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d12 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Charge
Your great mass can floor people. As a bonus action, you can make a special attack with your Horn. If the attack hits, it deals its normal damage, and the target must succeed a Strength saving throw of 10 + your Strength modifier or be knocked prone. You can't use this trait again until you finish a short or long rest.
Powerful Build
The greater physical stature of half-trolls lets them function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Whenever a half-troll is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), the half-troll is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. A half-troll is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature’s special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. A half-troll can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject’s size category. Special: a half-trolls size requires that their armor be made to fit someone of their stature, costing and weighing half again as much as armor for other medium creatures, and their build gives them a -4 size penalty on Stealth checks.
Keen Hearing
The Half-Troll has advantage on (Wisdom/Perception)checks that have to do with sound.
Voracious
You're almost always hungry, you must eat as much food and drink as a Large size creature, twice as much, each day to stave off starvation.
Wings
You have a fly speed of 30 feet. If you are wearing armor you are not proficient in or any Medium or Heavy armor, you may not fly. You must be in a place wide enough to accommodate your wingspan to fly. Your wingspan is equal to twice your height. You may not fly in normal backpacks or armor. The cost to alter your gear to be suitable for flight is equal to half the cost of the gear.
Beastal Origin
Your creature type is considered Monstrosity, beast, and humanoid.
Siege Monster
Double damage to structures and items.
Additional Eye
This eye is attached to the back Half-Trolls head, blinking and focusing, it acts as an additional eye. When used, the additional eye has the same vision as the creature (such as low-light vision, darkvision 60 ft., etc...). It grants the wearer no particular advantages so long as his original eyes continue to function normally. However, should his original eyes stop working, whether because of the half-troll becoming blinded or even his/her own decision to close them, he can see through the additional eye instead.
