Homebrew Blight Species Details

Blights are towering figures of desolation and haunting grace, stands as a spectral sentinel in a form forged by corrupted wood and ancient sorrow. Its massive frame, hewn from twisted bark and gnarled roots, bears scars etched like sorrowful tales across its weathered surface. Luminescent veins trace a haunting network beneath the bark, emitting an eerie, spectral glow that dances across the rugged terrain of its form. Eyes, once wise and vibrant, now glow with a haunting light, shimmering amidst features contorted by a deep-seated anguish. In its mournful presence lingers an echo of forgotten whispers, a mournful symphony yearning for the vibrant world it once cherished.

False Appearance

If the blight is motionless at the start of combat, it has advantage on its initiative roll. In a natural setting, If a creature hasn’t observed the blight move or act, that creature must succeed on a DC 15 Intelligence (Investigation) check to discern that the blight is animate.

Entwining Vines

Your body is adorned with sinewy vines dripping with acidic sap that extend from alongside your arms, serving both as a defensive mechanism and a means of engagement. As an action, you can use these vines to make an attack against a creature within 10 feet, dealing 2d4 + your Wisdom modifier acid damage upon a successful hit.

Furthermore, when you successfully strike a creature using these entwining vines, you can immediately attempt to grapple the target as a bonus action. When you take a long rest, you must spend at least 4 hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal.
