Homebrew -Avisapiens- saurotheos Species Details

 Living among the grassy plains, the Avisapiens , sometimes called Dinosauroids, evoke confusion and wonder. Many Avisapiens aren’t even native to our Plane. They hail from a world where mammals never came to power. 

They are hunter gatherers, scouts, and explorers, their outposts functioning as footholds in a world both very different and yet strangely similar .

 Feather and Beak

Standing horizontal, Avisapiens might reach 3 feet tall and 5 feet long, there legs taper to sharp talons.

Feathers cover their bodies. Their plumage typically denotes membership in a tribe. Males are have brightly colored wattles, with feathers of white. Females have more subdued colors, usually gray. Their heads appear to have beaks which they use to manipulate tools, though underneath the beak hides teeth.

They regularly have "gliding rituals" where they find the largest cliffs to see who can fly the farthest.

 

Dinosaurian Mannerisms

The resemblance of Avisapiens to dinosaurs and birds isn’t limited to physical features. Avisapiens display many of the same mannerisms as ordinary birds. They are fastidious about their plumage, frequently tending their feathers, cleaning and scratching away any tiny passengers they might have picked up. 

Their languages are as much visual as verbal, and though the verbal aspects change from region to region, the visual language of the body is nearly universal. The elongated throat feathers and tail play an essential role in language.

 

Society, Clothing and Weapons 

 

Once tribes of Avisapiens settle in an area, they usually stay there for at most 25 years.  A typical tribe consists of three large, open-roofed nests. The eldest acts as leader with the support of four key members

.Avisapiens have a unique clothing styles the most common are wooden armor plates covering various parts of the body or/and ornamental cloths.

Avisapiens weapons are unique among sentient beings because thy can only use one handed weapons because they use there beak to hold things. The exception is thrown spears which are thrown using the tail

 

 

Avisapiens Names

As with much of their speech, Avisapiens names include visual elements to the point that other peoples have a difficult time mimicking them. Typically, a name has one to two syllables with the movements acting as connectors. When interacting with other races, Avisapiens may use nicknames gained from people they meet or shortened forms of their full names.

An Avisapiens of either gender may have one of these short names ( dashes mean a movement): , Qua-Irp, Skre-Aur, Kek-Doe, Eeta-Cra, Uek-Caw, fee-Ikki, Eck-Kle, Eerr, Sss-Uss, Quk-Qee, -Qeeeeu-, -Salleek, U-Ree-, or -Ca-Kee-.

Being able to glide after jumping or falling off a high object negating fall damage starting at 1st level is exceptionally effective in certain circumstances. As a result, playing an Avisapiens can let you use special strategys for surprise attacks.

Most Avisapiens are neutral and rarely choose sides when it comes to mammalian affairs. Tribal leaders and warriors might be lawful, while explorers and adventurers might tend toward chaotic.
