Homebrew Chitine Species Details

Physical Description: Chitines were about 4 feet tall and have four arms, each of which have an extra joint. Each of their hands and feet are embedded with claws, which allows them to climb most surfaces. Their faces hold faceted eyes and mandibles attached to their mouths. Chitines can spin webs from their stomach. Their skins secrete oil, preventing the chitines from sticking to their own webs.

 

History: In the 13th century DR, chitines were created by Ched Nasadan wizards of House Mylyl as failed slave experiments. In 1305 DR, the chitines rebelled from drow enslavement and founded Yathchol. In 1372 DR, the Forgotten Ones, driders of T'lindhet negotiated a defense pack with a group of chitines and planned to attack T'lindhet. In that same year, the nobles of House Teh'Kinrellz were saved from destruction because they were out on a chitine hunt during the fall of Ched Nasad.

Sunlight Sensitivity

While in sunlight, the chitine has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Wed Sense

 While in contact with a web, the chitine knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.

Wed Walker

 The chitine ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.

Fey Ancestry

The chitine has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put the chitine to sleep.
