Homebrew Concubus Species Details
Infernal Bloodline
Unlike their infernal cousins, Concubi are born from a direct meeting between a human and their infernal parent, and as such look for more monstrous to the unknowing eye; they do have tails and solid colored eyes like Tieflings though. They lack horns, but make up for them in a pair of bat-like wings. These wings often stay on the back or hips, but some Concubi have them on the arms, legs, feet, elbow or head. A decently strong Concubus can even have multiple wings on their body, up to 6 pairs, along with having a split tail. They typically have sharp canines or sharp teeth in general, but they can vary in size, shape and placement. The wings of Concubi, no matter the placement, tend to be on the smaller side- though most Concubi are able to hover or glide with their wings, most are incapable of true flight.
Nomadic Omens
Due to their ability to feed off affections and attention, insensitive or ignorant folk see can see them as bad omens, things that will gladly suck up all the love and affection in a town or city if given free reign. When the going gets tough, its more than likely a group of Concubi can be seen fleeing or being chased out of a town, inadvertently strengthening the rumor of their unluckiness.
As such, it's unlikely for even large families of concubi to stay in one piece. Many families will group up together in attempt to keep safe- there's strength in numbers, most Concubi won't fight to stay in a town- using that strength in their numbers just for the sake of making sure everyone gets out alive, especially since it's somewhat common for young Concubi to get lost or accidentally abandoned in camp raids.
Bad Blood
Despite being so genetically close to Teifling, most Teifling and Concubi are weary of eacthother, if not outrightly hating each other. Ignorant folk often won't bother to tell the difference between the two, which can end up with their separate mythos being mixed together, only making both of their lives harder. A particularly insensitive Teifling might think that the unlikeness for a concubi to feel shame for their lineage is what keeps both of them as outcasts, while a rather insensitive Concubus might say that a Teifling's unwillingness to fight for their rights as people is what brings both races shame. Either way, it's pretty uncommon for these two groups to get along with eachother, especially in rural areas.
AN UNLIKELY WEAKNESS
While it's unknown to non-Concubi, it's an open secret amongst concubi that the wings are the most sensitive part of a concubus. Stoking them will almost always get a response out of the concubus, but that response depends entirely on the concubus and their relationship with the person doing it.
Concubus Traits
Concubi share certain racial traits as a result of their infernal descent.Emotional Siphon
One of the Concubi's infernal traits, all concubi are born with the ability to convert other's emotions into energy- even other concubi, though they get less from them. While it's common practice for a Concubus to ask nicely before siphoning from someone else, it's possible for a starving concubus to lose themselves in hunger and drain an unwilling participant.
