Homebrew Displacer Kind Species Details

“…Only a handful of people has seen one, most Tabaxis had heard of a friend who swears they know other Tabaxi who gave birth to a Displacer, but if I’ve proven anything my friend, after all these years, is that my word has weight.

I met one a while back. She was a mercenary, I worked with her a couple of years, the job was nothing exceptional by itself; but her. She was 6 feet tall, with four arms and tentacles. she seemed gigantic. Most who saw her feared her, but I knew that strength is the only truth in battle. And as long as she was on my side, I‘d have nothing to fear…”

-Testimony extracted from the book "Unheard Myths of the North."

The Displacer Kind are humanoids creatures that share characteristics with the fey monstrosities called Displacer Beasts. Born from Tabaxi parents, their cat folk heritage is often ignored in favor of their fey heritage Four arms, two tentacles, a tail, and feline features, a set of traits easily related to the monstrosity. Despite the beliefs of commoners, a Displacer Kind has no more tendency to evil than any other Tabaxi.

Bad Omen

A Displacer Kind is born when a Tabaxi has been in contact with the feywild and/or fey magic for an extensive period of time. From there on exists a possibility to give birth to a Displacer Kind. Those children will be bom with the mind and soul of a Tabaxi, and will not inherit the bloodlust of the beasts they are named after. Nonetheless, many see the birth of one as a curse and a danger to the community, marginalizing the child and those who choose to support them.

Nomadic Warriors

Most Displacer Kind have no or little regard for the place they were born, abandoning it the moment they consider all their deals closed and affairs settled. They prefer a nomadic lifestyle, where their strength is rewarded. As such, there are few Displacer Kind who find a place they can truly call home. Even then, most die in battle at a relatively young age compared to their lifespan.

Displacer Kind Names

The majority of Displacer Kind have a name common in Tabaxi's culture: related to nature.
