Homebrew Cybotic Species Details

Cybotics are humanoids who are a fusion of biology, machine, and might even be created by powerful by magic. There might be a multiple of reasons for your creation, whether by choice, necessity, experimentation, or even being born as one. In each case, the ratio of what is machine might vary drastically. Perhaps just an arm, or 50/50 mix, or the only organic matter remaining being the brain and heart. Despite the outward appearance, your systems are fully integrated to function as one with your blood simultaneously carrying organic and inorganic components. Many Cybotics appear very humanoid with large sections of organic or inorganic skin, while others might emphasis their mechanical nature by having exposed skeleton components, gears, hydraulics, and some might even have unnecessary and non-functional components as a fashion accessory. A Cybotic might even have an energy core powered by electricity, magic, a deity, or even through a pact.

Cybotic Traits

As a Cybotic, you have the following lineage traits.

Creature Type

You are a Humanoid.

If you replace a race with this lineage, you can keep the following elements of that race: any skill proficiencies you gained from it and any climbing, flying, or swimming speed you gained from it.

Size

You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you select this lineage.

Your height is similar to your base race.

Your weight is drastically heavier then individuals of your race of a similar size. Calculate your base weight then multiple it by 1.5

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Protocol

Choose your protocol from the Protocol table. Your Reboot trait allows you to change your protocol.

no. PROTOCOL TABLE
1 Accuracy: add +1 to hit on attacks
2 Defense: add +1 to your base AC
3 Magnetism: add +1 to charisma skills
4 Offence: add +2 to damage on melee attacks
5 Speed: add +10 to speed

Precision

You know the guidance cantrip. You can cast it as normal, and you can also cast it as a bonus action a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

If cast as a bonus action, you can add a 1d4 to an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw to a creature you can touch. The use of this spell in this way must be cast prior to the action being taken. It is not a requirement for your next action to use this ability as long as it is used within the duration of the spell. Its use needs to be declared prior to the roll of the action, only applies to one roll (such as multiple attacks), and does not need to be the first roll of that action as long as it is specified. The use of this spell immediately disrupts and ends any spell you are concentrating on.

Upload

At 3rd level, the Cybotic gains the ability to decipher and upload data into their central core for future use.

During a long rest a Cybotic can decipher and upload an ability, spell, class feature, or sub-class feature to your central core that you've seen in the last 24 hours. They can then use that encoded data to recreate that effect. The following rules and restrictions apply:

  • If the uploaded ability, spell, class feature, or sub-class feature uses a spell slot, or has a limited amount of uses, it's used at its lowest level and has an one time use only.
  • If the uploaded ability, spell, class feature, or sub-class feature doesn't use a spell slot, or has an unlimited amount of uses, it can be used an unlimited of times and is based on your current characters level if applicable. (ie. cantrip spell progression at 5th level, 11th level, and 17th level.)
  • A character is not required to be a spellcaster, though they have to have the level necessary in a single class to cast a spell at that level. (ie. 5th level to cast 3rd level spells.)
  • The character has to have the equivalent level in a single class as the class or sub-class feature they are uploading. (ie. 2nd level Bard to use a Paladin's Divine Smite.)
  • This ability is reset if the one time effect is used, you take a long rest, or 24 hours has elapsed since the ability, spell, class feature, or sub-class feature was uploaded. Any uploaded data cannot be transferred into the next day unless you saw it used in the last 24 hours again.
  • You cannot upload your own abilities, including any ability, spell, class feature, or sub-class feature recreated by this feature.
  • You cannot upload a racial trait.

Cybernetic Repair

Your body repairs itself regardless or whether it is organic or inorganic matter. Minor damage to organic matter repairs itself as normally, while damage to inorganic matter repairs itself by utilizing metal from your blood and converting it into new components.

Reboot

During a long rest you can reboot your protocol, language, skill proficiency, and weapon or tool proficiency. You connect to a wide network of Cybotics, and you can draw from a shared data base of knowledge. After completing a long rest, you can choose a new protocol, language, skill proficiency, and weapon or tool proficiency.
