Homebrew Common Cat Species Details

The Common Cat is as it name says, common. Cats can be found in every corner of the North-Western Realm. They are an extremely adaptable race but prefer to live in places where they can use their climbing abilities to evade capture from their many enemies. Although not normally on the menu, they have a habit of ticking off creatures larger than themselves, usually placing them in compromising circumstances, due to their either sly and deceptive or haughty and imperious natures.

Small and Frail

The common cat usually stands around three feet in height, putting it at about average size in comparison to many of the other races but at a severe disadvantage when confronting larger creatures. Their build is usually thin, lithe and extremely flexible, but at the expense of strength. They come in a verity of natural colors that can range from black to gray to various patters.

Lords of the Riverlands.

The largest concentration of the common cats is located around the Cainneon River and its many large cities. The history of how they arrived in the region was lost in the distant past, but they were once of the prominent races that controlled the plains before the Aynorian Conquest. Even with the abolishment of noble houses by the Aynorians they always held high positions in the governments of the region due to their intelligence and cunning natures. With the onset of the The Civil war, when noble houses were reinstated, they were one of the races placed into power and given lands and estates for their families.

Loners

Common cats don't work well with others of their species. In most cases their personalities class, scheming against each other or getting on each others nerves with their inflated egos. Usually the species will not even be attracted to those of the other sex unless they are looking to copulate offspring. They will usually keep company of other species when they are looking for friends but are not a very social species and will not yearn for social contract.

Obligate Carnivores

Cats can only eat meat. Their diet however is varied, although they have a preference towards fish, or mouse when the smaller species is on the menu. In most cats, however nice, they had a sadistic nature buried in themselves that causes them to enjoy tormenting prey before dispatching and consuming it. On the other side of the coin, cats are large enough to end up on the menu themselves. Being predators, they are not deemed edible by the Blood Order, so are not consigned as a fixture of the eastern diet, but if they run into trouble with people on the wrong side of the law, or run into a beast in the wild, they have a habit of 'disappearing'.
