Homebrew Beholder Mutant Species Details

Like said before, a Beholder Mutant is born from a Beholder dreaming of becoming or being another race, aside from being a Beholder; these occurrences, due to their narcissism, are rare, but do happen. When it does, a Mutant is born. They are born as fully-sized humanoid creatures, ranging anywhere from 5" to 7"+. Most have darker skin, though pale skinned Beholder Mutants are common. All have dark blotches of discoloration along their arms, legs, and sometimes torso. Aside from these most common traits, there's no telling if someone is a Beholder Mutant or not, unless the signs (tentacles/eyestalks, giant eye, etc) are shown. They belong to no gender, but they are sometimes born with feminine or masculine traits. Beholder Mutants come in many variants; some have heads resembling a Beholder, yet a human body. Some have entirely humanoid bodies, but traits of a Beholder. Some look almost entirely human, albeit for odd black discoloration of their skin, mysterious eyes on their body, etc. The most common look for a Mutant is black discoloration along their hands and forearms/feet and calves, tentacles or eyestalks protruding from their back (they can easily be hidden), and a massive eye hidden likely on their chest, stomach, or back. Depending on the species of Beholder (see subraces), these features will change.

Mutants usually grow up in solidarity confinement, due to the inklings of their isolated and narcissistic traits from their technical parent. Some sneak their way into a family or town, but usually these towns are very small and very (luckily) accepting of these strange beings. 

A Beholder Mutant's powers are very uncontrollable, if even usable at all. Some never figure out how to use their powers from their eyestalks and their massive eye, and some do.

Beholder Mutant Traits

Nearly all Beholder Mutants have some form of advantage on magic. Some may also have advantages when it comes to swimming or elemental magics; it all depends on what form of Beholder they are.

Beholders, although paranoid and narcissistic, are very intelligent, and many are charismatic. 

Paranoia of Narcisissm

Since you could remember, you've always been highly paranoid of someone, somewhere, is out there to get you. While this does fuel your intelligence and perception of things, making it very easy to think ahead and make plans, it does also sometimes make you blind or overly nervous of everything to ever exist is out there, wanting to kill you and only you.

Eye Rays

If you're a Beholder Mutant, you begin to discover the deadly and dangerous magics involved with the mysterious eyestalks and giant eye upon your body. It exhausts you greatly when you first start using them, though, and takes an immense amount of concentration to use at times.
