Homebrew Bubbli Species Details
Bubble bubble, my home this is. Bubble bubble, float I do. Bubble bubble, swim I can. Bubble bubble, who are you?
Bubbli are bubbly. They have lively personalities, are increasingly curious about everything, and always want to see what is happening. They have an eager spirit for adventure and are very knowledgeable because of their deep curiosities for life.
Vapor Droplets
Bubbli can be difficult to describe, but they tend to be referred to as insectoid-like blue bugs with softly glowing bodies that sit inside a bubble. The glowing portions of their bodies come from small Axichite crystal shards - which give them the ability to float, as Axichite has natural antigravitational properties. No one is really sure how the Bubbli came into existence, but some scholars hypothesize that the first might have just been a bug that ate a small piece of Axichite - and Bubbli require Axichite shards to survive as a food source, though a Bubbli only requires about half an ounce of Axichite for food for their entire lives. Their bodies are rather soft, unlike typical insects, which is why the surround themselves with a bubble. The bubble is not made of air however, it is made of water. Inside their bubble, Bubbli can freely move their six legs and two antennae. They have telekinetic abilities that allow them to move small objects with only their minds. They are small in size, often standing close to 1½ feet tall and only weighing about 20 pounds, largely due to the water and not themselves. They use the Axichite to float in air, so the Bubbli are both great flyers and swimmers.
Quest for Knowledge
The Bubbli are known to be natural inhabitants of the Axichite Islands, a large collection of floating islands rich in the crystal of the same name that allows the islands to hover. Despite their small size, Bubbli are highly intelligent and can understand very complex concepts - they are very civilized and are also very curious about new things. Knowledge, in Bubbli culture, is highly regarded and is often considered sacred. While Bubbli do not tend to leave their homes because their bubble might pop, that doesn't mean some Bubbli won't face that fear and explore the world anyway.
Bubbli require their water bubble to survive, and will die in just a few minutes without their water - making them somewhat like a fish-bug hybrid in concept. But, because many Bubbli are strong masters of telekinesis, they can often pull surrounding water into a new bubble for them to live in. Ultimately this technique enables Bubbli to continue their quest for knowledge.
Bubbli can live up to age 25, and they reach maturity in about a year of hatching. They make the most of the short lifespans to gather as much information as they can for their own personal gain. Bubbli are rather protective of their own knowledge though, and only share information if it would be vital to the species as a whole.
