Homebrew Yuan-Ti Abomination Species Details

The serpent creatures known as yuan-ti are all that remains of an ancient, decadent human empire. Ages ago their dark gods taught them profane, cannibalistic rituals to mix their flesh with that of snakes, producing a caste-based society of hybrids in which the most serpentine are the leaders and the most humanoid are spies and agents in foreign lands.

Abominations fulfill the aspirations of the Yuan-Ti in both body and mind. They embody the flexibility, poise, and form sought after by their people for millennia. They serve in the highest ranks of their society, often as clerics and other high priests.

The most dangerous aspect of Yuan-Ti culture is the value placed on pragmatism and emotional detachment. In a society where empathy does not exist, power is the sole force that drives their ambition. Their most common method to gaining power is through manipulation; using terror, pleasure or sheer awe, they can bend any opposing force to their will. Their lack of empathy also affects their relationship with the gods so important to their culture. The Yuan-Ti see worship as a means to power, and many among them seek to devour their gods and replace them.
