Homebrew Badgerfolk Species Details

From the depths of the earth emerge the Badgerfolk, a small, but strong people. They were created after magical experiments were done on regular badgers, turning them into intelligent beings. Badgerfolk spend their lives with their clans, upholding their codes, and travelling the land.

Short in Stature

Badgerfolk look almost identical to regular badgers, except that they are taller, roughly 3 feet tall. They also weigh more, and overall look larger.

Badgerfolk fur comes in four hues, black, brown, gold, and sometimes even red. They always have white markings in a striped pattern on their fur.

But Even Shorter in Temper

Although they are small, getting on the bad side of a Badgerfolk is a foolish decision. They are a proud and stubborn people. They do not easily forget belittlement, nor will they forgive it.

Each Badgerfolk belong to a clan, and each clan has a set of codes. These codes dictate what each member can and cannot do. Any member that violates their clan's code is exiled.

Badgerfolk Names

Before any Badgerfolk clans had met any humans, they would refer to each other by their clan name. After they encountered humans, they started adopting human names as first names, and using clan names as their last names.

Badgerfolk Traits

Your Badgerfolk character has a number of traits in common with all other Badgerfolk.

Ability Score Increases

Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Badgerfolk reach adulthood at the age of 15 and live until around 60.

Alignment

Badgerfolk have a strong sense of moral code, and a short temper to those who break this code. They tend to be Lawful Good, or Lawful Neutral.

Size

Badgerfolk average about 3 feet tall and weigh about 60 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Burrowing

Your base Burrowing speed is 50 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Claws

You are proficient with your unarmed strikes, which deal 1d4 slashing damage on a hit.

Tremorsense

You have tremorsense out to a range of 60 feet.

Keen Smell

You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Terran.
