Homebrew Burrbug Species Details
Burrbugs are larger frogs with mole claws. They look like frog and are usually from 1 to 2 feet tall and are very lightweight.
The colors of the burrbugs determine which tribes they are from.
Underground wardens
Nowhere are the burrbugs more comfortable than underground. They can spend days in dirt without getting breath from the cities underground or from above. They can be very useful in combat and in stealth.
Burrbugs rarely go above ground and they lay their eggs underwater in the cities underground. Every egg is put together in the same pond and burrbugs don't know who their parents are.
Mannerisms
The resemblance of burrbugs to frogs isn’t limited to physical features. Burrbugs display many of the same mannerisms as ordinary frogs. They can swim and they eat bugs, fruit, and no meat. They like licking bacteria and other things and have longs tongues.
Many burrbugs punctuate their speech with ribbits, sounds they use to convey emphasis and to shade meaning, much as a human might through facial expressions and gestures. A burrbug might become frustrated with people who fail to pick up on the nuances.
Burrbugs love glass objects.
They find it hard not to pluck the treasure and keep it to themselves.
Being airborne terrifies burrbugs and they almost never leave underground nonetheless the ground.
Homelands
Most burrbugs live underground under xolis. They live in four tribes and they have four big cities and if you don't live in one of those then you live by yourself or with one or two of your friends.
Burrbugs
Their are four kingdoms who are always at war with each other. The sand, mud, dirt, and stone tribes. The sand tribe is usually a lighter brown in color, the dirt tribe a normal brown, the stone tribe a grey, and the mud tribe a dark brown or black.
Their are only the four big kingdoms and rarely anyone lives elsewhere. If you leave it is usually on a mission from the king to get help in the war.
Great Purpose
Burrbugs don't enjoy peace and solitude. Most of them have great interest in dealing with other races but little interest in spending time above ground. For this reason, it takes an exceptional circumstance for an burrbug to leave his or her tribe and undertake the adventurer’s life. Neither treasure nor glory is enough to lure them from their tribes; a dire threat to their people, a mission of vengeance, or a catastrophe typically lies at the heart of the aarakocra adventurer’s chosen path.
