Homebrew Dlaxoid Species Details
Similar to plasmoids, dlaxoids are amorphous beings with no typical shape. Dlaxoids use their unique malleable bodies to hide or disguise themselves, and are often shy and secretive. They consume food by dissolving it on their surface and absorbing the nutrients. They naturally have bubbles and air pockets in their bodies that supply them enough air for their lifetime, And to hold items they can create a protective film over the ends of their limbs. Dlaxoids tend to be dull shades of green, purple, or blue, however it isn't unheard of for them to take on other colors. Dlaxoids occasionally have additional black patterns, like stripes. They also possess the ability to glow, which makes their colors more vibrant and bright.
Dlaxoids bodies are made of an acidic ooze, so they don't have any organs. However, Dlaxoids often adorn themselves by taking bones or occasionally full skeletons and putting them in their bodies, assuming they take on a humanoid shape. Dlaxoids, much like plasmoids, have nerve endings that allow them to sense things like textures and vibrations. Dlaxoids can encase themselves in a thin yet strong film that lets them keep their shape, so they can still wear clothes and armor when assuming a humanoid shape. They speak the same way a plasmoid speaks, by forcing air out of tubular cavities that constrict to produce sound.
When dlaxoids sleep, they condense their bodies into a tough, hard substance. They can also decide if they want to glow while they sleep.
Creating Your Character
When you create your D&D character, you decide whether your character is a member of the human race or one of the game’s fantastical races. If you create a character using a race option presented here, follow these additional rules during character creation.
Ability Score Increases
When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one of those scores by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. Follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy.
The “Quick Build” section for your character’s class offers suggestions on which scores to increase. You’re free to follow those suggestions or to ignore them. Whichever scores you decide to increase, none of the scores can be raised above 20.
