Homebrew Cursed Skeleton Species Details
While most of their body has withered, they are still bound to their animated remnants, with similar mobility to their original body, powered through their curse. They are bound to the lives of their party members, following them, as each needs to be dead for them to find peace, unable to kill them themselves, however, if none reach a natural death, the skeleton is bound to a life of eternal pain.
Cursed Skeleton Traits
Skeletons have been studied to the underworld and back, some of the abilities yours has include:Unstable
If a physical, non piercing attack hits the character for half or more of their health, the skeleton is flung backwards into pieces, and can reassemble themselves for a bonus action, or be used as a weapon/tool by a party member. If taken 20 ft. from the skull, all other bones will move within 5 ft.
When in this state, HP only applies to the skull, while bones each can withstand 1/10 Max HP(rounded up) of damage before crumbling.
Bones can be reassembled into simple shaped, such as arms and legs swapped, or a ball of bones.
All bones except the skull can be replaced in the groups of:
-Forearms and hands (two sets of each)
-Shins and feet (two sets of each)
-Upper arms (two)
-Femurs (two) and Pelvis
- Ribs and spine
Each addition or set replaces 1/10 of the characters original HP 1/10 (both rounded up)of the new bones original owners HP.
Eternally Animated
Skeletons do not need food, water, or sleep, and cannot be put to sleep.
When taking a long or short rest, Skeletons reduce themselves to an inert pile of bones, still aware of their surroundings.
Ability Score Increase
Your ability scores each increase by 1.
Age
Skeletons remain at the developmental age of their deaths, though bones can be replaced to change that, and can live possibly forever.
Size
Skeletons vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall, although this can change depending on which species bones you are currently using.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Skeletons typically pick up the languages of other peoples they deal with, including obscure dialects. They are fond of sprinkling their speech with words borrowed from other tongues: Orc curses, Elvish musical expressions, Dwarvish military phrases, and so on.
