Homebrew Ancient Drakeheart Species Details
The Drakehearted are artificial creatures constructed as weapons of war in ages past, designed solely for the purpose of slaughtering dragons. As such they boast powerful bodies and various aspects of the dragons, but their true strength lies in their capacity for magic, which is bested only by the ancient dragons themselves.
Ancient Drakeheart Traits
Ancient Drakeheart TraitsDraconic Flesh
Due to your body which is infused with the power of dragons your strength score and constitution score increase by 2, and you unarmoured armour class is equal to 14 + your dexterity modifier.
Aspects of the Ancient Dragons
Timeless Body: Your body is chained to a single moment in time, to which it will constantly revert every time you sleep. You do not age, and poisons, illnesses and wounds will only persist until the next time you sleep. However, your strength, dexterity and constitution scores are also unable to be changed except by feats.
Ancient Dragon's Claws: Your arms are clad in shining stone, ending in large clawed hands. Unarmed strikes with your claws deal 2d6 + str slashing damage and cannot be healed for 3 rounds as the wound is bound through time. This attack counts as magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances. At 5th level your claws deal 3d6 + str, at 7th level 4d6 + str and at 11th level 5d6 + str
Ancient Dragon's Wings: Large wings of shining stone protrude from your back, giving you a flying speed of 60 feet. As a reaction you can curl your wings around yourself and one other medium or smaller creature until your next turn. While encased within your wings you have resistance to all non-magical damage and any attacks directed at a creature encased in your wings are instead directed at you. You cannot fly while encased. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per short rest.
Ancient Dragon's Roar: Your voice carries the power and wisdom of the ancient dragons and can strike fear into those who hear it, granting you advantage in intimidation and persuasion skill checks against creatures who can hear you. As an action you can roar, forcing all creatures within 60 feet to make a DC 16 wisdom save or become frightened of you. Once frightened, creatures repeat the save on each of their next turns for no action cost until they succeed. Creatures that are frightened of you fall prone and are unable to attack you or approach you and their movement speed is halved. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Ancient Dragon's Eyes: Your irises are grey and slitted, signature of the ancient dragons. You have 120 feet of darkvision and you can see the Ethereal and Astral planes. You also gain Expertise in perception checks. Once per short rest as a bonus action you can focus your vision and determine the weakest point on a creature's body, dealing double damage on your next successful attack against them.
