Homebrew Capykin Species Details

Friendly and relaxed, Capykin tend to live out simple, peaceful lives in their large, yet close-knit communities filled with warm burrows that smell of baked goods and fragrant flowers. Rarely does a Capykin leave the comfort of their home for grand endeavors or to be an enterprising adventurer, but the ones that do are capable of greatness and are a good friend to those they meet along the way. Capykin love nature, comfort food, woodworking, and swimming.

Capykin Traits

Your Capykin character comes from a society that has known only peace and prosperity for several generations, lending to a unique set of innate skills.

Ability Score Increase

When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one of those scores by 2 and a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. Follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy.

Age

Capykin reach adulthood by late teens and live, typically, less than a century.

Size

Capykin generally range from 4 feet to 5.5 feet tall, with very few reaching 6 feet or above.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Additionally, you can climb and burrow 15 feet, and, because of your webbed feet, you can swim 40 feet.

Language

Your character can speak, read, and write in Common.

A Friend Indeed

The calm nature of the affable Capykin makes it difficult to find an enemy in one. Capykin have advantage on Charisma (Performance and Persuasion) Checks and disadvantage on Charisma (Deception and Intimidation) Checks.

Rodent Awareness

While the largest of their kind, Capykin are nonetheless still members of the rodent family. Evolutionary need of survival instincts makes Capykin very aware of their surrounding, gaining proficiency in Perception and advantage on Wisdom (Perception) Checks using sight, sound, and smell.

Tunneller's Vision

Capykin are burrowers, living half of their waking lives underground, because of this they have superior dark vision, able to see in dim light as if it were well-lit and in darkness as if it were dim out to a range of 60ft.

Nurtured in Nature

Capykin herds are always close to, or in the middle of, nature, as such, you gain proficiency in Intelligence (Nature) Checks and Wisdom (Survival) Checks.
