Ailuran (Red Panda Folk)

Appearance

Ailurans, also known as Red Panda Folk, resemble their namesake creatures. They have soft, rust-colored fur with white markings around their eyes and bushy tails. Their large, expressive eyes convey both curiosity and vigilance. Ailurans stand about 4 to 5 feet tall and weigh between 60 to 80 pounds.

Traits

As an Ailuran, you gain the following racial traits:

  1. Forest Guardians: Ailurans have an innate connection to the woods. You have proficiency in Nature and Survival skills.

  2. Keen Senses: Your acute senses grant you advantage on Perception checks related to tracking, detecting hidden creatures, or noticing disturbances in the forest.

  3. Tree Climber: You are an adept climber. You can move through trees and branches at your normal speed without making Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks.

  4. Forest Magic: Once per long rest, you can cast the spell Speak with Animals to communicate with woodland creatures. Additionally, you have advantage on saving throws against spells or effects that would harm the natural environment.

  5. Protective Instincts: When an ally within 30 feet of you is attacked, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You must be able to see the attacker and the ally.

  6. Forest Adaptation: You are proficient with shortbows, longbows, and scimitars.

Roleplaying Tips

  • Guardians of the Grove: Ailurans fiercely protect their forest homes. They form close bonds with other woodland creatures and often serve as mediators between fey beings and mortals.
  • Curious and Playful: Despite their protective instincts, Ailurans are curious and playful. They enjoy exploring hidden glades, climbing trees, and discovering ancient secrets.
  • Solitary Yet Loyal: Ailurans prefer solitude but fiercely defend their chosen companions. Once they consider someone a friend, they will go to great lengths to keep them safe.

ailuran Traits

Forest Resilience As an Ailuran, when you are near death (reduced to 10 hit points or fewer), your connection to the forest strengthens. You gain the following benefits: Enhanced Climbing Speed: Your climbing speed becomes twice your normal walking speed. This allows you to swiftly ascend trees, cliffs, and other natural obstacles within the forest. Natural Camouflage: While near death and in a forested area, you blend seamlessly with your surroundings. You have advantage on Stealth checks to hide among foliage, rocks, or other natural features. Forest Vitality: If you are reduced to 0 hit points while in a forest, you can make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw. On a success, you stabilize and regain 1 hit point. You can use this feature once per long rest.
