Homebrew Doppelgänger Species Details

Strange and lizard like, Doppelgängers are native to swampands and marshes. In order to adapt  to a hostile environment they have created their own form of magic in the form Mimic gems. These opals allow them to shapeshift and desguise themselves in a manner similar to mimics.

although physicaly inferior to most other races, Doppelgängers wield a very powerful magic

Shapeshifter

you have a limited amount of mimic gems that replenish on a long rest. you absorb the essence of any creature and store it within a gem. you can shatter the gem at any time time to transform into whoevers essence was contained, gaining their looks, stats, voice and racial abilities, however not their class or spells. Every 2 levels you gain +1 Mimic Gems total.
