Homebrew Animated Object Species Details

"A spork, a coin, and a statue "walk" into a tavern. The bartender is literally the bar itself. Where was I going with this?"

Magical Origin

Animated objects are often created due to magical mishaps. Sometimes an Animate Dead spell misses and accidentally hits a gravestone. Sometimes someone is accidentally polymorphed into a potted plant. Let's be honest, though, that one’s usually on purpose. Another way animated objects are created is by novice spellcasters, attempting to test out their newfound abilities.

Used and Abused

Oftentimes, animated objects, despite having souls, are treated as you would a normal object. They are often overlooked and forgotten. This usually leads to resentment of sentient creatures, but sometimes animated objects revel in servitude.

Animated Object Names

Animated objects often have simple, short names with only a syllable or two. They either name themselves after something mundane, or randomly choose letters. This can be replicated by smashing your hands on a keyboard and adding some vowels.
