Homebrew Bumble Species Details

The Bumble are humanoids with aspects and societal thinkings of bees. They possess stingers that can poison, but at a great price to themselves when they use it. Their bodies have an armor-like exoskeleton, which protects them in flight, since they cannot wear conventional armor while in flight.

Bumble Traits

Bumble traits are similar to that of a bee, with traits based around effectiveness in the sky.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Age

Bumble reach adulthood at 15 years old, and can live to be around 100 years old.

Alignment

A Bumble mostly maintains the alignment of their queen, which can be anything from Lawful Good to Lawful Evil. Although if a Bumble were to leave the hive to start a new one, they might change their alignment based on their ideals and goals.

Size

An adult Bumble can be anywhere from 4' all the way to over 6' tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 20 ft.

Flight

You have a base flying speed of 60 ft. To use this speed, you cannot wear any armor. You may wield a shield while flying.

Stinger

Your stinger is a natural weapon which inflicts piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Dexterity modifier, instead of bludgeoning damage and on a failed DC 12 Constitution saving throw, the target is also poisoned for 1 minute. If you move at least 20 ft towards the target before attacking, this attack inflicts 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier in piercing damage instead. An afflicted target can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending the condition on a success.

Natural Armor

You have an armor-like exoskeleton covering your body. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Dexterity modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield’s benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.

Honeymaker

If you spend 3 hours uninterrupted in an area with living flowers, you can make 1 quart of natural honey. If ingested, this honey causes a creature to regain 1d6 hit points per cup they ingest. This honey also sustains a creature as a full meal. This honey maintains its healing properties until your next Long Rest. After which, it still will count as a full meal.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, and one other language of your choice.
