Homebrew Blocklett Species Details

With origins being apocryphal, it is said that these creatures come form the far isles of Danyes, produced in masses by some mad artificers that dreamt of entire worlds being made of these beings. However, they did not expect these creatures to become sentient. With their numbers, they overpowered the artificers and ceased the production of more of their kind.
The Blocklett, they called themselves. They did not share the dream of the artificers and decided to be free rather than a plaything to a bigger being.

After lots of years, many of the Blocklett have died, as their material was of lesser quality, and therefore had difficulty to survive the harsh elements of the real work. However, some of their kind was more lucky. Those were produced using stronger materials and magics, being resilient enough to look pristine, even after hundreds of years.

Blocklett Traits

You have the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increases

When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one of those scores by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. Follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy.

The “Quick Build” section for your character’s class offers suggestions on which scores to increase. You’re free to follow those suggestions or to ignore them. Whichever scores you decide to increase, none of the scores can be raised above 20.

Languages

Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. The Player’s Handbook offers a list of widespread languages to choose from. The DM is free to add or remove languages from that list for a particular campaign.

Creature type

You are a construct. You have no blood, so any magic affecting blood don't affect you. When you are unconscious or motionless, you are indistinguishable from an ordinary object.

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 ft.

Healing Mechanism

Also, you can be healed with the Mending spell, this spell heals you for 1d8+ the spellcasting modifier of the caster. You can only be healed this way an amount of times equal to your proficiency.

In addition, your creator designed you to benefit from several spells that preserve life but that normally don't affect Constructs: cure wounds, healing word, mass cure wounds, mass healing word, and spare the dying.

Cursed Structure

Your body is made of an unnatural material. It is more resilient to some things, but has its downsides.

In addition, whenever you are attacked with a melee attack, you spill some of your special building material onto the ground at the feet of the attacker, creating a 5ft area of difficult terrain. This area deals your proficiency bonus as piercing damage when a creature moves into or within the area and have to make a dexterity saving throw.

(Save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier)

On a fail, the target falls prone.
A creature can use their action to shove the material to the side and get rid of the area of difficult terrain

This Blocklett race is unaffected by this area of difficult terrain

Flexible build

You are made up of individual parts: 2 limbs, 2 legs, a body and a head. Each of these parts can safely be removed from the body without damage. (When a hostile creature tries to remove these parts, they must succeed on a contested strength check).
When a body part is removed, this part cannot be used until it is reattached using the Mending.

When found, body parts of other Blocklett can be used to change your own limb configuration.

Cosmetic pieces like hair, heads and bodies can also be interchanged using the Mending cantrip for each removal and attachment. If used in this way, the body parts that are being switched count as the material component. (e.g. removing your head and replacing it with a different head would use 2 castings of Mending.
Using this effect will result in the same effect as the Disguise Self spell.

Construct Anatomy

You are immune to nonmagical diseases. You don't need to eat or breathe, and you can't ingest food and drink.
You don't need to sleep, and magic can't put you to sleep. You can finish a long rest by spending 4 hours in a motionless state, during which you are conscious.

Fancy Material

When you were built, you were one of the lucky ones to be constructed form a more advanced kind of material, making you more resilient to small scuffs and scratches.
Because of your material, while you aren't wearing armor, your base Armor Class is 13 + your dexterity modifier
