Homebrew Bear Species Details

A wild bear from a nearby forest that has learned to walk on its hind legs for as long as it wills, mimicking humanoid races. It has adapted a strange form of magic which enables it to reshape and mold armors around its body, allowing it to wear them effectively.

Let's hope everybody thinks that you're a weird druid.

You are unable to vocally communicate with humanoid races unless they cast speak with animals. You can however, understand and read common.

Bear Traits

Unarmed Strikes

Unarmed Strike Bonus

Gain a bonus of 2 to your unarmed attack rolls and damage. Gain access to the claws attack which deals 1d8 slashing damage, this attack counts as an unarmed strike and upgrades every four levels and at level 20. You also gain access to the bite attack which deals 1d6 piercing damage, scaling at the same rate as claws.

Beast Sense

Your beast senses give you a far keener sense of hearing, smelling and sight than humanoid races have. Add a bonus of 2 to perception checks and passive perception.

Ability Score Increase

Your strength and constitution scores both increase by one.

Thick Fur

Your fur protects you from the cold, giving you resistance to cold damage. However it is easily flammable, making all fire damage apply burning to you for 1d4-1 turns. You gain +1 to unarmored AC.

Speak With Animals

While you may not be able to communicate with the humanoid races on a vocal level, you may communicate with and understand other animals vocally.

Darkvision

Darkvision. You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light.
