Homebrew Chicken Species Details

You are a chicken. Thats it.

Really though this is built to act as a slightly overpowered/balanced chicken species for 5e. It has some fun flavours to it but really this is a chicken through and through. Parts of it have been grossly inflated to make it more fun to play but at the end of the day this is aa chicken we are talking about. Its been made for you to have fun with in silly settings, do not expect this chook to make it very far, or even very quickly lol.

Chicken Traits

Think - "anything a chicken can do, i can do exactly the same"

Peck Attack

You rain down a flurry of pecks upon your target dealing 6 damage (2d4).

Birds of a feather stick together!

Flock Tactics: Your flock has advantage on attack rolls against an opponent as long as one member of your flock is within range of your target and isn't incapacitated. When you damage a creature with an attack or a spell and the creature’s size is larger than yours, you can cause the attack or spell to deal extra damage to the creature. The extra damage equals your level.

Talons

Your talons are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Alignment

Chickens act according to their own will and wishes. As such, most that gain sentience tend to lean toward Chaotic Neutral.

Nimbleness

You can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than yours.

Nimble Escape

You can take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action on each of your turns

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Fowl.

Headless Chook

Upon getting decapitated, you may still run around and act as normal for 1d4 rounds.

Which came first?

You are a chicken, and what else are chickens known for but laying eggs! Once per long rest you are capable of laying an egg. This can be used for whatever sick purpose your little mind can come up with!

Hatching: Once hatched an egg can be hatched over (1d4) long rests. During this time the egg must be protected from cracking and can withstand up to 5 (1d6) hitpoints of damage before breaking. Each day of long rest is requires you to specify that you are going to sit on your egg in order to count it towards hatching. Think of this like 'death saves'! Upon hatching your eggy you gain a familiar in the form of a Chick.

Chick: Well done! You've successfully hatched a Chick! These cute little guys act as familiars and can perform basic chick-like-activities such as *peck*, sleeeeeep, and "cheep". Otherwise they are just little guys that require your help to raise into your own flock of Chickens. Chicks have 6hp (1d10)

Chickens: Chickens are the 'evolved' forms of Chicks. These act as, well, chickens! As their flock leader you can command your flock to perform some basic actions. Chickens have 18hp (2d10)

  • Reproduce: Command your Chicken to lay and egg and spend 1d4 days sitting on it to hatch it into a Chick. 1d4 Chicks can be assigned to a Chicken to be raised up into Chickens
  • CAAAAAWWWW: Command your Chicken to release a Cockle-Doodle-Do. This creates a sound loud enough to be heard within a 120-foot radius of the Chicken.
  • Peck Attack: Command your Chicken to peck a target within 5-feet of it dealing 1d4 damage to the target on a successful hit (+1d6 to hit)

You Monster: I know what you're thinking you sick ****...yes. You can eat your egg, Chick, or Chicken at anytime. How you do so is up to you but I recommend over easy or fried!
