Homebrew Copycat mage Species Details
Basic description
Average in height, the Copycats are best recognizable in their humanoid form by the unnatural presence of purple. Most of them have purple eyes, purple hair, and purple magical aura. Their animal form is similarly marked, changing one or all of the animal's natural colors to purple. Their humanoid form usually reflects the physique of their animal form.
Numberous forms
All Copycat mages have two forms. Their humanoid form and their Copyform. Copyforms are commonly divided into seven categories, called Copytypes. Copycat Prime (feline), Copycub (Ursine), Copycarp (Water based), Copycritter (Rodents and small animals), Copycrane (Birds), Copycroc (Reptiles) and Copycattle (Other mammals). Copycats inherent their types based on the combination of their parents's types. Some are naturally born stronger shifters, can shift more easily, and their animal forms resemble stronger species within their Copytypes. Despite their starting point, all Copycats can change their Copyforms for stronger versions after important life events or after enough training. (For example, a stronger Copycrane might be born with the ability to transform into a small bird of prey, whereas a weaker shifter would turn into a songbird, but when put through enough training they might both turn into Harpies later in life despite their initial forms being different.)
Humanoid forms
The humanoid forms depend on their Copytype. Some Copycats are built for battle and heavy armor, some are dexterous thieves ready to end the battle before it even begun, some are better off as casters. The thing all copytypes have in comon is the color purple. Most Copycats have purple hair or eyes, often at once, though they always have at least one of those traits. Some even have purple skin, though it is rare. Their skintones cover the usual human colors, as well as some light pastel purples. Their eyes often have pupils corresponding to their Copytype. Sometimes their Copytype affects them in other ways as well, sharper teeth, ocasionally patches of fur, scales or feathers.
Unnatural Branches
Centuries ago, at least one of the Copycats was bitten by a wild Werewolf. They, instead of becoming a wild werewolf, adopted the wolf as their Copytype. Due to their Copycat heritage they were able to control the disease and not let themselves be overtaken by it. This new mutated form of Lycanthropy is not only hereditary, but also dominant, meaning that no matter who the other parent is, if at least one parent carries the disease, all their children will carry it as well, becoming Werewolves. Werewolves, however domesticated, still carry a disease that could easily wipe out all the variants of Copycats that took eons to develop separately. Werewolves are seen as a perversion of the free perfection Copytypes are. All Werewolves are seen as wild and untamable and all Copycats are advised to keep away from them.
