I think creating race traits really depends on what kind of vibe you want for the race, like if there was a city of them or the actual physical characteristics of the animal. You could do something like thick-coat, allowing them to boost their A/C but lowers their speed by 5, or capybaras seem like the friends of all animals, so you could give them comprehend languages, so they can talk to everyone! Always fun to brainstorm ideas :)
