Homebrew Draegloth Cambion v1.0 Species Details

"Dive into the shadows where the Draegloth Cambion lurks, embodying a rare convergence of drow and demon, ordained by the will of Lolth."

"Ah, child of twilight and tempest," a voice as cold as the deepest Underdark echoed, its tone laced with both reverence and a hint of disdain. "You stand at the crossroads of legacy and destiny."

"What do they murmur in the dark?" he inquired, his voice a chilling caress. "One’s an aberration, two’s a terror—"

"Three’s a harbinger," she snapped back, defiance kindling her voice. "As if those whispers could define me."

"Indeed." His eyes, glowing with a feral and arcane light, fixed upon her. "You are no mere echo of your ancestors. The legacy of the Draegloth Cambion is not one of subjugation but of sovereign dominion. While others might falter under such weight, you wield it as both shield and spear." His gaze narrowed, a predator's focus. "You are not one to be ensnared by the darkness, but rather, you are the one who commands it."

A Legacy Forged in Shadow

To traverse the world with the mantle of the Draegloth Cambion is to walk a path lined with fear and awe. To be met with wary glances is commonplace, for their heritage speaks of both the revered and the reviled: a lineage that weaves together the refined cruelty of the drow and the unrestrained malice of demons.

Infernal and Drow Ancestry

The Draegloth Cambion is a herald of their dual heritage, manifesting physical attributes that terrify and mesmerize. Their form is a testament to their origins—skin that holds the luster of obsidian, veined subtly with the incandescent fury of lava flows beneath a midnight sky. Their four arms, a gift from their draegloth lineage, end in claws sharp as the finest drow forged steel, promising death with a whisper of movement. Their eyes, reminiscent of the deepest pits of the Abyss, betray no thoughts, only the promise of retribution. Hair, as if spun from shadows, flows untamed, a crown of darkness that completes their daunting visage.

Might and Mystique

The Draegloth Cambion navigates their existence at the fringes of drow society and beyond, where their talents for subterfuge, strategy, and combat mark them as invaluable assets or formidable foes. The complexity of their nature renders them enigmas—capable of cold-blooded calculation or fiery wrath, their actions serving the inscrutable designs of Lolth or their own ambitious ends.

Demonic Resilience

1st Level: Your infernal heritage fortifies you against certain types of harm. At 1st level, you gain resistance to one of the following damage types of your choice: acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, poison, or thunder. This resistance reflects the dark energies flowing through your veins, a gift from your demonic ancestors.

3rd Level: At 3rd level, your resilience against the elements deepens. Choose an additional damage type from the list above to which you gain resistance.

Drow Magic

Your Draegloth heritage blends the martial prowess of your demonic lineage with the mystical aptitude of the Drow. This legacy bestows upon you the ability to cast spells innate to the Drow. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

1st Level: You can cast dancing lights as a cantrip, invoking the flickering lights characteristic of Drow magic to illuminate the darkness or distract your foes.

3rd Level: Starting at 3rd level, you can cast faerie fire once, requiring no material components. This spell allows you to outline hidden enemies in a vibrant glow, revealing their presence to you and your allies. You regain the ability to cast this spell when you finish a long rest.

5th Level: At 5th level, you unlock the ability to cast darkness once, tapping into the deeper shadows of your Drow heritage to engulf your enemies in impenetrable night. You regain the ability to cast this spell when you finish a long rest.

Four-Armed Terror

You can make one additional unarmed strike as a bonus action. At 5th level, this increases to two additional unarmed strikes as part of the same bonus action. These attacks must be made with your claws.

Furthermore, you have two slightly smaller secondary arms below your primary pair of arms. The secondary arms can manipulate an object, open or close a door or container, pick up or set down a Tiny object, or wield a weapon that has the light property.

Underdark Camouflage

Gain advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks to hide in rocky terrain or shadows, reflective of your Underdark origins. This trait enhances stealth capabilities, making you harder to detect in your preferred environment.

Fiendish Legacy

The cambion's fiendish bloodline makes them especially susceptible to radiant damage, reflecting their dark ancestry's aversion to the purity of light. This vulnerability underscores the inherent conflict within their soul, making encounters with celestial beings or divine magic particularly dangerous.
