Homebrew Astralus Faerie Species Details

Intro

In the world of Astralus, there resides the Kingdom of the Faeries. Hidden by a veil of space and magic, the Kingdom houses hundreds of fairies where they eat, sleep, and play in. Fairies are tiny magical folk about as tall as the length of a medium-sized human's hand. They have unique insect-like wings on their back, the designs of them often correlating to their magical gift or even personality. Their wings glow and shine with ever-shifting hues of gold and cobalt blue, granting them the ability to fly and hover. A fairy's wings are the main sources for their magical abilities. Little is known about their origins.

Role

Born from the Hearth of the Kingdom, each fairy is eventually tasked with certain roles or responsibilities. While new fairies usually head straight to the Courts of Nature and Craft, it is not rare to have special fairies who are more suitable in other areas, such as the Blade Guard or the Caretakers. In these roles, each fairy takes their part in preserving and restoring the world of Astralus alongside their non-fairy friends.

You can speak, read and write Common and Sylvan.

Natural Glow

The natural glow from your fairy wings grant you a strong enough light that helps you see better in darker spaces. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Just Your Imagination

Tiny fairies need ways to escape danger or to pass through areas undetected. You can turn invisible as a reaction and it lasts until you attack, cast a spell, willingly end it, or fall unconscious. You can cast this spell as a reaction at will once every long rest. 

Fairy's Touch

Similar to a butterfly's kiss, you invoke a breath of life to a creature of your choice. It will heal them for 1d4 for 3 charges and is reset after a short rest.

Origin Bonus

Each fairy is born with unique traits based on their origin. You will have two extra points to add to any ability score of your choosing.

Hint: Look at your Special Ability section in your character creator if you need guidance. It is best to focus on increasing ability scores that would be helpful for your specific fairy.
