Homebrew Akitsu Species Details

Akitsu bear a striking resemblance to dragonflies, in that they have large fly-like eyes, scaly color-changing skin, two sets of arms, and one pair of legs. although they are not nearly as small. Most Akitsu are medium and some are small. Most Akitsu reside in humble places free of most dangers like trees in deep forests near water, but some simply live like most humanoid creatures (though it's rare)

Life Span

Akitsu reach maturity around the age of 5 and most only live to about 75

Height and Weight

Player characters, regardless of race, typically fall into the same ranges of height and weight that humans have in our world. If you’d like to determine your character’s height or weight randomly, consult the Random Height and Weight table in the Player’s Handbook, and choose the row in the table that best represents the build you imagine for your character.

Akitsu Traits

As an Akitsu, you have the following racial traits.

Creature Type

You are a Humanoid.

Size

Your size is Medium or Small

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Flight or Flight

Akitsu descended very far down the line from dragonflies. They adopted the same wings, although said wings aren't made to support more dense creatures than dragonflies. As such, Akitsu can only use their wings once a day or suffer from exhaustion.

By nature, most dragonflies developed instincts to escape from danger rather than face it head-on. Akitsu developed a similar instinct allowing them to have momentary bursts of flight to escape danger when it would normally not be possible. Using this feature you can disengage and gain a flying speed of 30ft if you are within 5ft of an enemy. doing so requires an action and should only be done once per long rest. if you choose to use this more than one time per long rest, add a level of exhaustion per additional use.

Bite

Akitsu can open their jaws as wide as their entire head, although they can do this, they lack the raw muscle power to be able to bite effectively. with these two abilities combined, Akistu can bite for a moderate 1d4 + strength modifier piercing damage.

Multi-limbed

You have two slightly smaller secondary arms below your primary pair of arms. The secondary arms can manipulate an object, open or close a door or container, pick up or set down a Tiny object, or wield a weapon that has the light property.
