Homebrew Werewolf 2.0 Species Details

Werewolves are Humanoids that are generally part wolf and part human, but occasionally they might be part wolf and part elf, for example. Werewolves have three different forms: Animal form, Human form, And Hybrid form. Hybrid form is also sometimes called their true form, their beast form, their werewolf form, or their wolf form. Most Werewolves automatically turn into their hybrid form every full moon, but sometimes they are immune. Some werewolves are born werewolves, but most start out as other species that got bit by a werewolf and turned into one. Werewolves are usually nocturnal, where as regular wolves are most active at dawn and dusk. Werewolves will sometimes pretend to be a regular humanoid and live in a town or city, but most Werewolves prefer to live either with a werewolf pack or alone. They usually feel more comfortable around their own kind, which is why they rarely live in human (for example) settlements. They also can understand wolves when they howl, and wolves's howling is like voices to them, they can tell which wolf or werewolf is howling just by listening to the howl. Wolves and Werewolves share the same language, their language is often called Lycan. Very few regular humanoids learn this language, and it is especially tricky for humans. No one knows why it is so much more difficult for humans to learn Lycan, it just is. Werewolves with more control over their Hybrid form can sometimes change into their Hybrid form at will, rather than only transforming during a full moon, but it takes a lot of practice.

Full Moon

All werewolves who don't have the full moon immunity trait turn into their Hybrid form during a full moon. During a full Moon, werewolves will become even more beast-like than usual, hunting animals and sometimes attacking their allies. If a werewolf loves someone enough, they might regain just enough control to not attack that particular person.

Three Forms

Werewolves have three forms: Hybrid, Animal, Human. Animal form makes them look like a wolf. They can change in and out of this form whenever. Hybrid form is a cross between their human form and animal form. Most Werewolves only change into this form during a full moon. Finally, their human form. Most Werewolves were born as humans, but then got bitten by a werewolf and turned into one. Some werewolves started out as other types of humanoids, like elves, and then got bitten by a werewolf. Whatever species they were before, their "human" form will look just like they did before they became a werewolf. This is generally pretty useful, since it allows them to live among humans or other humanoids without giving away that they're a werewolf.
