Homebrew Cristalyne Species Details
Hidden away in a cave, a Crystaline waits for someone to find them. Eventually, someone does. They then break off a piece of their gemstone and hand it to the person who found them. The person thanks them and walks away.
Crystalines are golem-like creatures with bodies made of a tough stone that's hard to dent. They grow crystals of various types and offer chunks to those who find them in caves.
Biological Information:
Age and Growth:
They don't grow, due to being beings made of ore. They retain a constant size throughout their life, which can vary depending on how big their ore was.
Alignment:
Due to being isolationist, they are often Neutral alignments.
Cristalyne Traits
But what can they do?Unwieldiness
Due to having stone bodies, their fingers aren't very maneuverable. Because of this, their dexterity score is permanently 5. They also cannot use ranged weapons such as bows and guns. They also have disadvantage on attack rolls using melee weapons. However, their unarmed strike is equal to their strength modifier multiplied by half their level, rounded up.
Ore Body
Their bodies are made of an extremely hard stone that is almost impossible to break through. Because of this, their AC is automatically 18 and max HP is permanently 15. However, they only take 1 damage per turn. They also can only heal through eating dense rocks.
If a humanoid tries to attack a Cristalyne with an unarmed strike or any other similar melee weapon and it gets blocked, the attacker receives double the damage instead of the Cristalyne.
A Cristalyne may pull off a chunk of the gemstone they grow once every 5 long rests. The gemstone produced cannot be used as a magic ingredient and has no magical properties, however, it can still be sold to shops for half the price if it was natural.
They are immune to psychic, poison, slashing, lightning damage, and petrification. They are resistant to fire, cold, and thunder damage. They also cannot be pushed around, due to being so heavy.
Pickaxes receive an additional +2 against their AC.
