Homebrew Cave Orc Species Details

Small but fast, these Cave Orcs are often found alone. They are rarely found outside their original caves, and are extremely territorial. They will often attack outsiders on sight, with all others in a cave grouping up to attack when threatened. There can be as many as 100 - 1000 per cave.

Small but Mighty:

Cave orcs, although small, are a fearsome foe. Able to sneak up on opponents without being noticed, they are hard to fight against, and when they do fight together, they are able to swarm the opponent and are often able to overwhelm enemies purely through numbers.

Cave orcs often follow the leadership of the smaller orcs that live further in a cave, and will often do anything they say if they need to fight.

The Mark of Armold:

Alongside Gruumsh, Cave Orcs also worship Armold, the cold-hearted god of the cold and of caves. Often believed to be the one responsible for the depth of the ice caves, often only the smallest of orcs are able to reach the coldest depths of the caves. Those that are small enough are often treated as deities, and are though of as able to communicate the Armold through the ice walls.

Cave Orcs mature faster than humans, reaching adulthood around age 7. They age noticeably faster and rarely live longer than 40 years.

Cave Orc Traits

They are enduring and menaing creatures that use thermal echolocation and savage attacks

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Intelligence score increases by 1.

Thermal Echolocation

Thanks to the lack of light, you have lost your ability to see, however this has lead to a higher sense of hearing. This has lead to you being able to use echolocation and also tell the difference in heat between objects if there is a difference of at least 20 degrees.

Menacing

You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.

Relentless Endurance

When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Savage Attacks

When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.

Fury of the Small

When you damage a creature with an attack or a spell and the creature's size is larger than yours, you can cause the attack or spell to deal extra damage to the creature. The extra damage equals your proficiency bonus. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest, and you can use it no more than once per turn.

Cold Resistance

You have immunity to the cold.

Suprise Attack

If you attack a creature and it doesn't notice you, you automatically do a critical hit.
