Homebrew Atherian Species Details
We were once the leaders, flame bearers, frontiersmen of science, art, and philosophy. That is until the collapse struck. But we cannot loose hope. Athen provided us the means to do it once. Perhaps we can do it again.
A once proud and mighty civilization, brought low due to the collapse, the remaining atherians strive to rebuild and maybe retake their lost city. Naturally intelligent and crafty, the atherians often attempt to produce great works of technology combined with their study of the arcane. However progress has been stunted. Due to their rarity, many malignant forces seek out atherian tribes, whether for hunt, to use their smarts for evil, or just to own some exotic slaves, many atherians are taught to fear the rest of the world. Because of this atherians are a rare sight in the wild and their settlements are extremely well hidden away from potential slavers.
Atherian Traits
Atherians look alien when compared to the rest of their humanoid counterparts. With heights ranging from 6ft-7ft tall and weighing 100-225 pounds. Atherian skin is usually leathery with smooth faces, and skin tones usually falling under some shade of blue, sometimes more red or green depending on genetic rarity. They are mostly hairless except for a condensed amount of straight hair that grows out of the back of their heads. Atherians have an almost translucent blood shaded purple. Atherians reach adulthood around the age of 40 and naturally live for about 3-4 centures, but can choose to extend their lifespan via arcane or technical enhancements known only by them
Last of Their Kind
Most atherians were lost from the calamity that struck their grand city. Some atherians escaped and started communities outside in secluded environments out of fear of being hunted or out casted for their rarity. Their tribes and settlements usually follow a similar social structure to their original way of life, with intellect, honor, and harmony being their highest values. Most tribes continue to pass down knowledge of their great legacy.
