Homebrew Aasimar Malefect (Nephilim) Species Details

I saw it, wreathed in wings of fire, its eyes burning with devilish glee. What I had thought to be it's compatriots froze in fear. It's blade, now consumed in infernal light, swept once, twice, three times. The devils’ heads hit the ground, one after another. And thus we learned that a Nephilim is no friend to their kin.

Nephilim bear within their souls the burning blood of devil's. They are humans descended from devils, hidden away from their kin for fear of death. They look as if completely human, but inside their Devil lineage waits to be unleashed

Devilish Champions

By their nature, Nephilim are infernal beings, but they have no love for their Devil kin. They are always born from a loving pairing of human and devil. They are not inherently evil, infact more often than not they will go out of their way to slay devil-kin. They tend to be rather self serving, and as such usually lean towards chaotic and neutral alignments but are still capable of good.

Hidden Wanderers

While nephilim are strident foes of infernal evil, they typically prefer to keep a low profile, but won't go out of their way to do so. A nephilim inevitably draws the attention of evil cultists, fiends, and other enemies of good, all of whom would be eager to strike down the infernal warrior if they had the chance.

Many Nephilim still consider themselves human and will protect the innocents around them. They nevertheless have no compunction about striking openly at evil. The secrecy they desire is never worth endangering the innocent.

   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

Aasimar Malefect (Nephilim) Traits

Your nephilim character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2.

Age

Nephilim mature at the same rate as humans, but they can live up to 160 years.

Alignment

Nephilim can be any alignment, but lean towards chaotic.

Size

Nephilim have the same range of height and weight as humans.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Infernal Resistance

You have resistance to necrotic damage and fire damage.

Devilish Regeneration

As an action, you can regain a number of hit points equal to your level. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Heritage

Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to unleash the infernal energy within yourself, causing your body to take on a more devil like appearance and exude a powerful aura.

Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. During it, you shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet, and at the end of each of your turns, each creature within 5 feet of you take infernal damage equal to half your level (rounded up). At level 10, you increase this range to 10 feet. In addition, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra necrotic damage to your target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra damage equals your level.

Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
