Homebrew Braxian Species Details

What are men willing to trade for power? What will some give away? What pain will they endure? Hundreds of years ago one group of people were willing to change their very bloodlines to gain the power they craved.

Arcane Infused Mind and Body

Hard, disciplined and convinced that their mastery of all things magic and martial has destined them to rule all before them. Braxians are known as skilled wizards, warriors, conquerors, and feared by all. On average male Braxians stand over 6 feet tall, their powerful frames are corded with sculpted muscles that are beyond the norm. Their sharpened minds and amazing physics are the product of generations of selective breeding, magical experiments and secrets that no outsider can do more than guess at. Female Braxians have been molded by related but different arcane tinkering. Tall and statuesque the Braxian fair sex are every bit as sculpted and powerful in their own way. Their minds are as sharp as the most intelligent Braxian male. With this mind comes physical perfection and calculated poise that either evoke adoration or raw jealousy.

Braxian skin ranges from purest ivory to a light tan on their flawless exterior. Males' hair, is mostly worn long but in simple styles, is almost always black, though a very small few have snow white hair. Males are incapable of growing facial hair. Females also wear their hair even longer and often have servants toil to extravagantly style those tresses.

The time and power to do unto others..

Braxians can live to be up to 200 years old, far exceeding the normal human origins of their bloodlines. For those that advance the farthest in the arcane arts there is a correlation with even further increased life span. Magic has not only provided the Braxian people the power but the time to fulfil their tyrannical ambitions.

Braxians have founded their society on the core principle of power of the elite few makes them right. They have no real respect of other people, race or culture. All others are valued from their potential to be useful servants or slaves if they have use. Those who either refuse to bow, have nothing to offer or to unruly to be ruled shall feed the crows. They shall make it so.

The Price

Internal dynamics of Braxian society is closed to outsiders. While the power that this people so arrogantly wield with sword and sorcery is evident, it was not without cost. A closely guarded secret is that while the magical processes and breeding accomplished the original groups hopes, it also had unintended effects. The cost is so terrible that it has made a hard people even harder. Along the path to perfecting the Braxian race many alterations were made to the basic human clay that they started with. Selective breeding was codified for the society and the physical, intellectual and magical potential became to prime drives. Emotional attachment and "love" at times caused difficulties that the founders had to overcome. These two vital components of normal human interaction have resulted in a purging of those who fell victim to these "failings".

At the same time the alterations compounded and generations later another problem emerged. Birth rates have lowered with each generation while at the same time still births and defects appeared at a slightly higher rate than the human norm. These failures are ruthlessly purged. Both males and females are expected to beget the next generation of their people. Physical passion they are more than capable of. Unfortunately, they do so in a sterile environment devoid of love. All of these factors are unseen shapers of the cold society.

When a Braxian reaches the age of 12 they are enrolled in one of the primary driving forces of Braxian culture, one of the War colleges. The selection is determined by rigorous examinations and the needs of the empire. The War Colleges consists of the Ministry of War, the Colleges of Magic and the Academy of Shadows. In that time the young Conquers will learn: basic magic, linguistic skills and training based on their future role in advancing their race and the fundamentals of their craft of conquest.

Upon graduation from War College a Braxian is considered an adult. In the ceremonies that are a part of their achievement they are subject to a painful ritual tattooing. These tatoos are minor wards against baleful magic.

The foundations of Braxian culture is fundamentally Lawful Evil. Very rare is the individual that can go their own way against the tyranny of Braxian life.

Classes that spring from Braxian War Colleges always have a base starting point of either: Eldritch Knight, Wizard or Arcane Trickster. Multiclassing is known, but only as a form of power enhancement.
