Homebrew Woodean Species Details

Woodean are guardians of forest, protector of the wild. They make it their life mission to protect the critters of the forest. Rare are those that venture out of the woods. If they do they often find that the other races are not as welcoming as they are. So they go live farmer, sowing seeds and harvesting crops or with druid help with rituals and restoration of nature. One thing is sure the life of a Woodean will always come back to the forest.

Wise Trees

Woodean are a species of living trees. They tower over most humanoids standing 8ft tall. Their body is mostly bark somethimes covered in moss and all kinds of mushroom. They often have vine growing from the back of their heads these vine do not serve any purposes. It is not belived that Woodean have, see, or even understand gender they seem to have children when they want to, although nobody as ever seen how these children are made.

Eternal Forest 

 Woodean can live for mnay centuries even getting to live up to a millennium. When they do they will have learn so much and gained so much knowledge and wisdom that they will find the forest that they first awaked in to root themself in the earth. Some forests have been said to have be replace completely by thousand years old Woodean. With that information every race that wants to expand and cut down trees will first do many ritual to make sure that none of the trees are Woodean as to not anger the gods of nature. The only race that does not take part in this tradition are the humans.

Rotting Hatred

The Woodean may have a liking for different races that comes from their experience with them but every Woodean caries a deep hatred of humans. They have grow this hatred because unlike the other races humans to not care for what kind of tree they cut down. In their eyes the fact that human slaughters their elder, being of immense wisdom, is an act of war. It is not unheard of that this normaly peaceful race butcher camps of human lumberjack.

Woodean Names

Woodean do not give themself name, or rarely, they will be given by friends and allies, members of other race. Often these name will be elements of nature such as type of trees, flowers, fruit or even name resembling those from that races culture.

Names: Bark, Oak, Cherry, Soil, Birch, Willow, Rose, Hibiscus, Poppy, Saul, Moss, Vine, Porcini, Morel, Amanita, Chanterelle, Leaf, Torn, Weed, Sprout.

Age

Woodean mature at the age of 100 and they can live up to 1000 years. Those of advence age will often dig their roots in the ground growing into true trees, sharing their wisdom with the youth of their species.

Alignment

Woodean are typically lawful neutral, believing in the value of nature and the circle of life.

Size

Woodean stand up to 8 feet tall. Their massive wooden body weight from 400 to 450. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 and your climbing speed is 30.

Wood Skin

You have skin made of bark. You have resistance to both Piercing and Bludgeoning damage however you have vulnerabilities to Fire damage. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Constitution modifier.You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield’s benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.

Nature's Gift

When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Entangle spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the Speak with Plants spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 9th level, you can cast the Tree Stride spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells

Regenarating Roots

You plant your roots into the ground. You can use an action to set your roots in the ground, reducing your speed to zero until the end of the your next turn. You then heal 1d10 damage + your Constitution modifier. The healing increase by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10), 10th level (3d10), 15th level (4d10), and 20th level, (5d10). You can use this ability a number of time equal to your Constitution modifier, (minimum of 1).

Plant Camouflage

You have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) check in any terrain with ample obscuring vegetation.
