Homebrew Bearcoonfolk Species Details
The Bearcoonfolk make for odd-looking creatures. Heavy-set and powerful, they combine features of a bipedal humanoid, mighty bear and cunning raccoon. Their heads, tails, hands and coloration appear to be like that of a chubby raccoon, while their muscled bodies are covered in thick fur that definitely demonstrates their ursine side. The dichotomy of their parental races has both benefits and liabilities. This often frustrates the creature when instinct and reality at are odds. Bearcoonfolk usually live to be around 75 years old. Upon reaching maturity in their mid-teens, they undergo instruction in Survival and Combat. This is generally conducted by their immediate kinfolk, entailing physical and mental training which culminates in the ritualistic Ordeal known as "Bjoernspringa". After passing this grueling assessment, Bearcoonfolk are experts in heavy weaponry and solitary survival, and they continue to hone their skills and knowledge in both remote and peri-urban settings. Due to the obvious physical limitations of breeding, these creatures are commonly thought to be purely myth. They tend to live outside of societies populated by creatures that are not animals or animal-humanoid hybrids. This is the reasoning for the scarce documentation of their existence, with most coming from the oral traditions of the Reghedman barbarians and gossip.

Storm of Tooth and Claw
Two slots per Rest and recharges after any Rest. Increases by one slot at every third Level, starting at Level 3
Bearcoonhug damage increases by 1d4 each Level
Within 5 ft of an enemy or when grappling. The Bearcoonfolk drops its weapons, and makes a wave of attacks: claw attack with each hand, bite attack and a Bearcoonhug. For the Bearcoonhug, the target makes Strength OR Dexterity Save against the Bearcoonfolk’s Strength. If the target succeeds, the Bearcoonhug fails and the Storm is over. If the target fails, it takes bludgeoning damage (1d4 +STR; based on Level) and becomes Restrained. While engaged, the Target must make the same Saving Throw on its turn until successful.
Disengaging: Other than a successful Saving throw, the Target can become disengaged if:
The Bearcoonfolk willingly disengages; or
The Bearcoonfolk takes damage of more than 1/3 of its current HP in any character’s attack sequence; or
A spell or Condition counters or affects the Bearcoonhug in a way that disengages it.
The Bearcoonfolk must take an Action to retrieve its weapon(s), once disengaged from the Target, or if the Bearcoonhug fails.
