Homebrew Anterfolk Species Details

The antlerfolk of the forest are strong in mind, dedication, and courage. They are at home with the trees, willing to fight to protect all that is dear to them.

Antlerfolk of the cities are violent, impatient, and deny any connection to nature in favor of violence and crime.

They combine their passion and sense of justice to become great monks and paladin who respect all the nature around them.

Antlers and Hooves

Antlerfolk are humanoids with heads resembling those of Elk. Their antlers range in size from about 2 foot long to great, piercing weapons easily three times that length. They often ornament their horns with nature focused decoration and when a antler breaks off it will regrow in a matter of weeks, females and children don't usually have antlers over a foot and a half.

Manes of shaggy fur extend down antlerfolk’s necks and powerful backs. Their legs end in heavy, cloven hooves. Antlerfolk are born with long, tufted tails, but usually they shrink down over time.

Calm and Tranquil

Antlerfolk are calm and love the beauty of nature. They are found among the druids often and tend to avoid conflict unless provoked by a lethal threat.

Antlerfolk tend to vent their outrage through meditation, and they aren’t generally quick to anger. They are passionate, loving their friends and partners fiercely, and they laugh politely and respectful around friends and family.

Family and Guild

Antlerfolk legends describe a small pantheon of heroes—perhaps they were once thought of as gods—who established the antlerfolk place in the world. Every antlerfolk in The Great Forest claims descent from one of these heroes.

Since each family line has so many members, antlerfolk don’t usually find it helpful to connect the name of the line to their personal names.

Antlerfolk Names

The legends that recount the deeds of ancient antlerfolk heroes are full of other names as well: those of the retainers, allies, lovers, servants, enemies, and others who played roles, however small, in the lives of the heroes. They also admire and take names from other races.
