Homebrew BeastKin Species Details

Hailing from mostly isolated communities on the equatorial islands, these BeastKin come in all shapes and sizes. 1000's of years ago it is said that their reverence of al animal life led to the creation of their own pantheon. These supposed gods walked the plains, mating with the once human settlers, creating the BeastKin. Some BeastKin come in a wide variety with some main differences being their types: Mammal, Aquatic, Avian, Reptilian and even rumours exist that in deep burrows under the original islands, insect like BeastKin roam the caverns below.

After some time the islands population dispersed with some of the more mammal like ones, especially those with fur acclimating to more harsh northern climates. Avian Types found refuge in wide desert canyons and dense rainforests alongside the Reptilian types. The aquatic types have dominion of the seas and often act as escorts to merchant fleets and are desired as expert sailors.

When siring offspring, due to isolated nature of BeastKin communities, many BeastKin will look to partner with those of the same type, the offspring taking the combined genetic features of both parents. If offspring is sired between two different types, two different things can occur. A) The offspring will default to a single type based on the parents (50/50 chance) or hybridisation which is considered rare, resulting in the blending of features from both parents, resulting in a Chimera.
