Homebrew Anglerid Species Details
Anglerids, sometimes known as Selkluans developed over centuries in the endless waters of Eternity. Fish humanoids adapted to the darker, deeper waters of the lake, eventually becoming the Anglerids of today. Nowadays they live almost exclusively in Aternis, but some can rarely be found in other areas of Subterraria searching for a life outside the lake city. The Anglerids are one of Subterrarias younger races, having only been in Subterraria roughly 6 centuries. But they have regardless made a huge impact on the world of Subterraria, and will continue to do so.
Anglerid Traits
Anglerids will share the following racial traits.Speed.
Your walking speed is 30 feet, and you have a swimming speed equal to your walking speed.
Ability Score Increase.
Increase one ability score by 2, and increase a different one by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.
Age.
Anglerids age the same as humans.
Creature Type.
You are a Monstrosity.
Amphibious.
You can breathe air and water.
Echolocation.
You have a form of Blindsight, allowing you to see in a 25ft radius centered on yourself without relying on sight.
Bioluminescence.
As a bonus action you strain your body making your tattoo like markings glow brightly. This allows you to light a 20ft radius centered on yourself with dim light.
Emissary of the Sea.
You can communicate simple ideas to any Beast, Elemental, or Monstrosity that has a swimming speed. It can understand your words, though you have no special ability to understand it in return.
Languages.
Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character.
