Homebrew Deep Imaskari Human (Lowerdark Human) Species Details

Deep Imaskari were humans with pale, smooth skin that was soft despite its stone-like appearance (this unusual characteristic was a remnant of the magical alteration that all the Imaskari underwent to survive in Deep Imaskar).

Deep Imaskari preferred to be well-dressed, with elaborate greatcoats covering simple, but elegant clothing in dark shades. They delighted in dark rings as well, particularly magical ones.

Deep Imaskari Human (Lowerdark Human) Traits

The Deep Imaskari have a series of magical and natural adaptations that help them survive the Lowerdark. The magical modifications and over four millenia of adaptation granted the Imaskari the following traits:

Ability score increase.

Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age

The Deep Imaskari are heavily infused with magic, which preserves them far beyond human years. They become adults at the same age as regular humans but age much slower, living up to 550 years.

Size

Deep Imaskari were tall and thin, with males typically standing close to 5.75 to 6 feet (1.75 to 1.8 meters) in height and weighing around 160 pounds (73 kilograms). Females are usually about 5.25 to 5.5 feet (1.6 to 1.7 meters) tall and 120 pounds (54 kilograms) in weight. Your size is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages

The Deep Imaskari are rather well-learned compared to other nations and races in general. They speak their own language called "Roushoum" as well as Common, Deep Speech, and Undercommon.

Low-light vision

You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. Unlike those who use darkvision, you can discern colors in darkness. In areas with an exceptionally low amount of light, those with low-light vision could still make out words or symbols.

Courage

Life at the lowest level of the Underdark hardened your people, giving you advantage on saving throws against the Frightened condition and confusion like effects.

Magic sense

You grew up around magic, infused by it, and always keenly aware of its presence or lack of it. You know if there's magic within 30 feet around you and even what school it belongs to, if it has one, as if you were under the constant effect of Detect Magic. This ability does not count as a spell, does not interfere with other abilities or spells, and is always active as long as you're conscious.

Imaskari education

You have proficiency in Arcana and Survival.

Innate spellcasting

You know the Mage Hand cantrip. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the Protection from Evil and Good spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Starting at 5th level, you can also cast the Invisibility spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Once you cast Protection from Evil and Good or Invisibility with this trait, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level.

  • Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).

Sunlight Sensitivity

You have disadvantage on attack rolls and Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of the attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.
