Homebrew Zangoose Species Details
Originating from an island nation far away, Zangoose are beastly humanoids that live for the thrill of the hunt and challenges of rough wilderness. They have an ancient rivalry with kobolds, each harassing and at times warring against the other. While armed with crushing claws and most known for their rivalry, the Zangoose are a resilient and adventurous people willing to go to great lengths for their friends and family; they are competitive and and resourceful, though sometimes their hot-blooded nature gets the better of them, and their ingenuity turns to revenge. Though not a side many see, Zangoose are capable of being tranquil and quiet, and their loose communities can have a spirituality to them that surprises some. Out in the world, Zangoose often feel as if they have something to prove- especially where kobolds are involved- but they are equipped with all the skills they need to succeed.
Size
Zangoose are from a bit under to a few inches over 4'3" tall, and weigh around ninety pounds and are Medium in size.
Appearance
Zangoose have thick white fur, with a jagged red stripe over their torso as well as red fur on their front paws and one of their long and pointed ears. They are bipedal but are capable of moving on all four legs, and some say they resemble a cat or ferret, or a mongoose. They have a fluffy white tail and two very sharp retractable claws on their front paws. They have light red eyes and an overall gruff look. Rarely, their fur may have an extra sheen to it and their stripes be light blue in color.
Age
Zangoose grow up fast, maturing in about 13 years, and they typically live shorter lives than mankind, with the oldest being about 75 years of age. Most Zangoose are considered elderly at about 50.
Alignment
While they are prone to holding grudges and can be aggressive at times, Zangoose tends towards being of a Neutral alignment, valuing independence and confidence as well as leisure and loyalty; they form few strong attachments to others, but remain true if befriended.
Language
Like many of the creatures and people from their far away island region, Zangoose use a limited vocabulary- sometimes just their name or one word- and instead rely on inflection and context to provide meaning.

The constitution of the Zangoose gives them resistance to Poison damage; depending on their lineage, you will also have a choice of Immunity to being Poisoned, or ignoring disadvantage on attack rolls while Poisoned and once a turn doing 1d8 bonus damage while Poisoned.
Crush Claw
You can use your claws for a natural weapon attack that deals 1d4 Slashing damage.
Adroit Dodger
The high agility of Zangoose gives them a +2 bonus to unarmored AC.
Grudge Holder
The rivalry between Zangoose and kobolds runs deep. You treat Kobolds(or some other enemy) as a favored enemy.
