Homebrew Concubus Species Details

Succubi and Incubi are the iconic depiction of lust, but their truest depiction is one of manipulation. Feared for their typically evil nature and ability to sway one’s mind towards darkness, succubi and incubi are fiends who wield subtle illusions and enchantments to tempt their victims into irrational responses, allowing the succubi or incubi to feed on their victims' emotions. Succubi and Incubi inhabit all of the Lower Planes, and the dark-winged fiends can be found in service to devils, demons, night hags, rakshasas, and yugoloths. Asmodeus, the ruler of the Nine Hells, uses these fiends to tempt mortals to perform evil acts. The demon lord Graz'zt keeps succubi and incubi as advisers and consorts.

Succubi and Incubi often live up to their reputation, acting as seductive females or males to lure mortals into relinquishing some of their life-force, however, contrary to popular belief, they don’t feed on sexual energy, but rather any heightened emotion. Particularly adept at controlling others at the peak of their strength, they're often employed - albeit reluctantly - by others to act as crowd control or to tame certain creatures. Most of them share the nature of their reputation; flirtatious. They avoid fighting where possible, instead choosing seduction or fleeing.

The gender-neutral term for Succubi and Incubi is usually either Foocubus or Concubus.

Concubus Traits

As a concubus, you have the following racial traits

Ability Score Increases

Your Charisma score increases by 1, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.

Age

Concubi are ageless demons, typically reaching adulthood between the ages of 15 and 19 and will not die of old age.

Languages

You can read, speak, and write Common, Abyssal, and Infernal.

Size

Concubi are shapeshifters; however, in general, they are similar in size to most other humanoid races. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Fiendish Nature

You are considered to be both a Humanoid and a Fiend.

Shapechanger

As an action, you can transform your appearance or revert to your natural form. You can't duplicate the appearance of a creature you've never seen, and you revert to your natural form if you die.

You decide what you look like, including your height, weight, facial features, the sound of your voice, coloration, hair length, sex, and any other distinguishing characteristics. You can make yourself appear as a member of another race; you lose the flying speed granted by your wings trait if your current form does not have wings; otherwise, none of your game statistics change. You also can't appear as a creature of a different size than you, and your basic shape stays the same; if you're bipedal, you can't use this trait to become quadrupedal, for instance. Your clothing and other equipment don't change in appearance, size, or shape to match your new form, requiring you to keep a few extra outfits on hand to make the most compelling disguise possible.

Even to the most astute observers, your ruse is usually indiscernible. If you rouse suspicion, or if a wary creature suspects something is amiss, you have advantage on any Charisma (Deception) check you make to avoid detection of your true nature.

If you meet a condition that would break your concentration, you must roll a Constitution saving throw to keep your shape, on a failed throw, you revert back to your natural form. While you are subject to concentration checks to keep your form, this does not count as holding concentration on a spell, so as to not restrict you from casting concentration spells while shifted.

There is no time limit for this effect, however, you can only use it a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest. Also, if you lose concentration, go to sleep, or are otherwise unconscious, you revert to your true form.

Silver Tongue

You have proficiency with the Persuasion skill. If you spend 1 minute talking to someone who can understand what you say, you can make a Charisma (Persuasion) check contested by the creature's Wisdom (Insight) check. If you or your companions are fighting the creature, your check automatically fails. If your check succeeds, the target is magically charmed by you as long as it remains within 60 feet of you and for 1 minute thereafter.

Wings

You have a pair of batlike wings that give you a flying speed of 30 feet. You cannot use this fly speed if you are wearing medium or heavy armor or if your current form granted by your shapechanger trait does not have wings.
