Homebrew Bovidae Elf Species Details
The Bovidae Elves are, despite their names, less typically elven and more like their Satyr and Half-Elf ancestors. Born from generations of Satyr and Half-Elven pairings, the Half-Goats retain certain qualities from their far distant human and elven ancestors, the curiosity, inventiveness, and ambition of humans tempered by the refined senses, love of nature, and artistic tastes of their elvish blood. Many Half-Goats choose lives of devoted work on farms or in physical labour, some even wandering the lands seeking out more work.
Looks of the Trip
Half-Goats vary in looks from almost human passing to extreme physical similarities to their non-bipedal relatives. They range from under 5 feet to, at tallest, a potential 7 feet tall, and from 100 to 180 pounds, with men only slightly taller and heavier than women. The more humanoid male Goatlins typically have facial hair that grows in patches. Goatlin skin coloration and features lie somewhere between their already mixed Half-Elf and their Satyr parents, and thus show a variety even more pronounced than that found among either race. They tend to have eyes extremely close to their goat relatives, possessing the same iris.
Workers or Wanderers
Half-Goats have no real lands of their own, just small settlements, though they are more than welcome in towns and villages. In large cities in regions where Goatlins and other races interact often, Goatlins are commonplace enough to form small businesses of their own, working as farmers or hard labourers. They enjoy the company of other races, though work infinitely better amongst their own kin.
Sometimes, a Goatlin will become dissatisfied with the hard work that their race finds is commonplace, and choose to seek other occupation, typically as guides over rough landscapes and tough terrain. They are also fit to carry heavier things than most due to their broader builds, and are often employed to carry and move things for smaller races.
Goatfolk Names
Half-Goats hold no special naming conventions, unlike other races. Instead, choosing to name themselves as they come of age. Before reaching this point they are generally referred to as "Kid" as they are not typically seen as required until they have come into their own.
Good Hearted
Many Goatlins learn at an early age to get along with everyone, defusing hostility and finding common ground. As a race, they are generally liked by most for their agreeableness and lack of ill-will, more often than not seen as kindhearted. They often make good go-betweens as they have no reason to favour anyone over another, and generally are able to sense the good in people. Despite their relation to elves, it is seen as distant enough to have no bias against them that would otherwise affect elvenfolk.
