Homebrew Clockwerk Species Details
A mechanical race with no soul. Built with a magical core, clockwerks fall under any creature built off the original image of Machinatt’s construction.
Found most often in the moving city of Balestone, they are often seen as equals to the Steel Elves and Iron Dwarves. Outside the city they are rarely seen, and are generally feared due to their unusual make and often conceal themselves so as to not disturb others.
Most Clockwerks serve Machinatt as their Founder-Creator, but they have also been seen serving other gods as clerics spreading the word of their patrons. They do not serve those who preserve life however, as they themselves are not made of organic matter.
Being of mechanical make, they do not require standard sustenance. Instead, they require maintenance checks throughout the day. Despite being soulless constructs, Clockwerks do show emotional understanding, and can fall anywhere on the alignment chart. They are able to alter themselves with a multitude of different parts.
Clockwerk Traits
ConstructCustom Made
Being mechanical, Clockwerks can freely swap out their limbs and upgrade themselves. Clockwerk cores only are built with a certain energy limit in mind. As such, they have a separate meter called strain. The limit is:
20 + (Character Level*2 + constitution modifier)
Machine Make
Clockwerks are resistant to non-magical bludgeoning damage. They are weak, however, to Acid Damage. They are immune to necrotic damage and cannot be poisoned.
Maintenance Protocols
Clockwerks cannot be magically healed. Instead, they can use any metal objects they find to meld and repair themselves. The healing from repairing depends on the quality and rarity of the metal. This can only be done out of combat.
Soulless Automaton
Clockwerks do not have traditional consciousness, as such, they are immune to any mind-altering effects and cannot be targeted by abilities that target the soul. They are still subject to physical effects such as a rooted or hold person.
Vocal Precepts
All clockwerks are proficient in vocal deception as they can lower or increase their pitch and tone of voice, allowing them to mimic other people.
